  This was my first time trying Takeout Kit and really enjoyed it! The recipes are straightforward and quite delicious. I didn't realize it would all be packaged ingredients and not fresh (but I suppose I should have read the fine print earlier that these kits can last for several months). Also wish they had smaller serving size options (for one person, you end up freezing half your leftovers), but these aren't any major complaints. I thought the options of this sampler were delightful and would recommend it to anyone thinking about trying for the first time. I would order again (but probably not for a while since I have so many leftovers now!)

  Nice kits, small quibbles

  I like the the idea of these kits. As a fan of International foods I enjoyed the variety. On the tikka dish, the spice level was American bland. It needs more spice but the overall flavor was nice. We both enjoyed the Paella, although the chirizo could have been spicier/more flavorful. Overall ease of preparation was good, although spreading the instructions out into discreet steps would have been nice. i.e. the temperature adjustment on the Paella was missed because it was the fourth instruction in a block of text.

  Family night hit!

  As a way to introduce cooking skills and encourage trying new foods to our kids, we purchased the Bestsellers Sampler. So far we have tried out the Chicken Tikka Masala & Khao Soi. Huge hit! First off, the kids loved the cute packaging. Preparation was clear and simple. Most importantly, the quality and flavor were very good and everyone enjoyed. We had fun cooking as a family and it was very nice to be able to whip it of the pantry last minute and have a great meal with zero shopping/planning. We can't wait to try the Thai Crab Curry next.   I really loved this kit. I have been lucky enough to visit all three locations (Thailand, Spain, and India) so it was extra special to get to taste those tastes again and remember my adventures with friends. The only downside is, at times, the instructions are casual to a point that can make new-in-the-kitchen folk (me and my wife), doubt whether we're headed in the right direction.   Vegetarian sampler was great

  I started out with the vegetarian sampler. I cook at home as much as possible and was looking for a faster and more efficient solution for those days when I just don't have the motivation or time to do food prep. My significant other has been ordering from another company and the food items require a lot of prep time which just doesn't work so we throw a lot of food away. He is a vegetarian. I also like international foods and cook mostly Thai and Indian when I have the time. I found Takeout Kit and figured I would give it a try. I am always skeptical but I have to admit that the meals were really good. I also have the ability to modify them to my tastes (add meat, soft boiled eggs, etc.). The food prep time is minimal and the instructions for cooking are accurate and easy to follow. I also get 2 to 4 servings per meal which means I don't have to cook every night! The quality of the food items is excellent as well. I just ordered the Pad Thai and am very impressed with what came in the box (real coconut palm sugar). I usually have to go to the speciality store for these items and even then I can't get what I want. The mushroom risotto was better than most restaurants I go to.
  
  There is still room for improvement of course. I would like to see some other types of meals with more variety. Hopefully that will come soon. I do highly recommend this product and I hope some other customers will make suggestions for meals as I love to try new things.

  This is a great sampler (although I buy them separately because we’re vegetarians). The Spanish Paella is wonderfully flavorful. We first had it with veggie link sausages and garbanzo beans, then with soy chorizo. Both were excellent. The Peruvian Yellow Pepper “Chicken” was made first with pinto, black and kidney beans and too much yellow pepper paste (1/2 the jar was waaaay too spicy for my husband although I loved it). Then I used 1/4 of the jar of pepper paste with Gardein vegan “chicken” strips. Yum. But, yipes! The Argentinian Empanadas were outstanding! I gave the enclosed chicken to a friend and used veggie crumbles mixed with El Pato and they were perfect for both of us the first time, although there will be a second (at least).

  This is a great combo although I will admit that I purchased them separately because we’re vegetarians. Even so, I would get each of these kits again in a heartbeat. The vegan Pad Thai tastes like the real deal, the Japanese Ramen (which I made with onion broth) was so tasty and warming, but that Peruvian Yellow Pepper Chicken was a treat. Be careful with the yellow pepper paste; very little was too much for my husband but I LOVED it.

  This is a great introduction to three entirely different cuisines. The spicing is varied and variable. The Moroccan Baked Eggs was flavorful without heat, the Masala cranked it up a notch but the Ethiopian Lentils! That was a hot one. The injera can be tricky and expect to toss your first one, but it gets easier as you go. If this dish is too hot for you, there is a milder on available if you order it singly.

  I am kind of a coffee snob. I had lowish expectations for this kit but I must say, I am impressed. If you're used to large and super strong cups of coffee, this would probably not be enough for you (or just make sure you double up). It tastes authentic though and I would purchase it again for a special treat. I think it would also be great iced, especially with coffee ice cubes so you don't water it down. Yum!

  We got this with the Peruvian Chicken kit and not only did it pair nicely, but it was such a delicious, fun, and new cocktail to try! I made Pisco Sours again with a recipe I found online using fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and an egg white. The mix was just as good as when I made it with fresh ingredients! I can't wait to try the other flavors! FYI The drink is strong, so I served it in smallish glasses and we got 4 servings out of it.

  I've made empanadas from an online recipe that was easier to make and tasted better than the Argentinian Empanadas here (these were a little too chewy as opposed to crispy). But I like the idea of trying international food so I'm willing to give the other recipes a shot - just signed up for a year sub.
  
  My most critical feedback is not actually for the food but the usability of the website whice is pretty bad. I dont like having to fill out a full form with all my info each time I want to request my box preference each month. On top of that, after you submit the form, theres nowhere you can check back to see which box you picked in case you forget. And nowhere on the site does it tell you by which date you need to make your box choice each month. I also signed up for the year subscription, but my account still says I'm subscribed month to month. I hope I wont continue to get charged for that subscription....

  My brother and I gifted a year subscription to our mother and her husband for Christmas. My mom sends me updates each month about the meal they received and what they thought of it. They have enjoyed everything they've ordered and said the quantities are generous and, for them, the serving size for each kit is closer to 4-6 servings versus 2-4. They live in a rural area so they appreciate the variety offered and really like trying a different kit each month.   Take me to Spain!

  Years ago, I had an amazing opportunity to live and study in Spain. The best part of the experience was the food. I had been planning for years to make paella, but somehow never got around to it.
  
  Until I signed up for this Take Out Kit.
  
  The Pros: The recipe was easy-to-follow. I thought that the ingredients that came in the box were tasty and came in perfect containers (I'm a sucker for good packaging) that were mostly easy to open. Most of all, this is a large meal and I love large proportions.
  
  Being a seafood lover, I added Argentine shrimp and steamed mussels (and discarded the artichoke hearts). I especially liked how the recipe had information for those of us that added seafood to the paella! Very thoughtful.
  
  The Cons: I thought the flavor was very, very strong. I usually love strong flavors but it was very powerful. It may have been my combination of shrimp and chorizo. The chorizo was difficult to get out of its packaging.
  
  Suggestions: It went well with some scrambled eggs and Siracha sauce in the morning!
  
  I will definitely pick this meal again! ...After I travel a bit to other countries, of course!

  Bonding Time

  I ordered thespicy empenadas, and left box on the counter until I had time to cook them.   The recipe for the Korean tofu stew was so tasty and easy. It's definitely on the spicy side, though we added both tubes of red pepper paste. It was perfect with the suggested poached eggs. We had a fulfilling dinner with enough leftovers for lunch. We're looking forward to our next box!

  Vietnamese Pho

  My husband and I made this together as a quick week night dinner. Although he is a very good cook, he rarely takes up the reigns. I purchased this thinking it would be something fun for him to take control of and boy was I right! He had a blast! I pitched in where he would let me, but he really just wanted to do it himself. The directions were easy to follow and the pho was delicious!! The great thing is that while we made all the broth, we froze down half and only made half the noodles, keeping the other half for another day! Can't wait to eat it again!

  long shelf life

  So far the two kits we have received have been great. Next time we order the Burmese Noodles (which we LOVED), I'm thinking of trying it with shrimp and peas thrown it. Like the idea of taking these dishes and adding my own spin the next time. And it is absolutely wonderful that when the kit arrives it has a long enough shelf life that it doesn't have to be cooked right away.

  So far this is the best kit I've purchased!

  I love this kit! I was getting sick of my regular dinners I have on rotation all the time. I always want to try something new but never know what to make and I don't want to go buy a million ingredients to never use again. I tried Hello Fresh but the food would go bad if I didn't make it within 3 days, plus 3 new meals a week was too much, I really just want one or two a month. I had the Burmese Curry the other night, it was so easy to make and it was delicious! I had the box for a month before I got around to making it, I loved that I didn't have to worry about it going bad. I have the Paella box now and I can't wait to try it, but life happens, one week it doesn't work out, then the next, so it's nice knowing I don't have to rush and make it within 3 days. Thank you for coming up with this box, it's exactly what I was looking for!

  I live in the rural Midwest where ethnic food options consist of Pizza and Tacos. I was thrilled to fine Takeout Kit! We prepared the Thai Crab Curry last night and it was so delicious. I was super impressed at how the dehydrated vegetables worked out! The layering of flavors was just right, and the spice packet allowed each of us to make our bowl as spicy as we wanted. Loved it!

  Thai Crab Curry

  We like to go out to eat a couple of times a week and that can be an expensive habit. And you get home after dinner out and sometimes things don't settle well.   Get the around the world subscription!

  The day we receive our Takeout Kit every month is always so exciting, especially since with the Around the World subscription, we don't always remember it's coming. While the meals are always delicious, the variety is actually the most exciting part. We wouldn't have necessarily ordered all of these dishes in a restaurant, much less try to cook them, but each dish we've made at home has been delicious. We normally love cooking these dishes on Sunday night, enjoying a leisurely dinner (since they are always pretty simple to cook up), and then having amazing leftovers for lunch. But we have also served them to friends and they've gone over wonderfully. We love adding the suggested fresh vegetables, but the meals really don't need them (since the freeze-dried veggies taste great and fresh once rehydrated and cooked up). We always add the maximum spice that the ingredients allow, and as spice lovers, that's perfect for us. Basically, we love everything about Takeout Kit and cook with it basically weekly! Everyone should try it (and start with the Sundubu: I had never heard of this dish, and now I dream about it).
