One of my favorite takeout kits!
I’ve tried a couple takeout kits before but this is definitely in my top favorites. I visited India earlier this year and have been looking for authentic Indian food. This brought me right back to my trip! I would suggest making or buying naan for a nice side.

Delicious!
This is a really good kit. I made it w/ 1/2 chicken and 1/2 chick peas (we're not ready to go vegan). My biggest hint is to use all the spices they give you. It is not overly spicy even w/ everything added. And don't be excited if, when you're cleaning the rice, the odd little bug floats up. Just pick it out w/ a spoon. I lived in the South for 25 years, and a few bugs in dry rice are to be expected. I made naan to go along w/ my dinner & I added half a chopped onion in the sauce (onion was optional, but I call it a necessity). What a nice different meal, easily made in my own home.

I used a rotisserie chicken because I didn't like the packaged chicken in the Peruvian meal. That was the only modification I made. I didn't expect it to taste as good as advertised by others. But there really is something special about it. I made it for work lunches. It performed well as "leftovers."

We frequently eat curries and wanted to try this kit. Everything we've ordered from TK has been great, but we're critical when it comes to Indian food. We were pleasantly surprised with the flavors. Very easy to assemble and prepare. We will probably use our own chicken cuts next time we order this kit.

Great First Kit, Will be Back for More!
I ordered this as my first kit. I loved the idea of having a shelf stable meal kit, with everything that I need to get a meal on the table. It was a hit! Included is a spice packet, which the recipe said to add half, with a warning that it was spicy. We're British ex-pats and don't mind spice. I added 3 quarters of the pack but my husband said it wasn't spicy at all. Next time I think I will add the whole packet. I loved the flavors, the ability to adjust the spicy level, the easy of cooking and the fact that the box can sit in the pantry for a couple of months. I'll be setting up my subscription!

Delicious! But......
This was delicious but, like other butter chicken shortcuts I've tried, did not taste like the butter chicken we get at restaurants. This was delicious and SO easy but it tasted more like a jar of masala curry that I bought at the Indian grocer once. The chili powder did not make this spicy even though we used the whole packet. In restaurants, butter chicken tastes much more creamy, spicy, and tomato-ey - this was excellent but not the same. LOVE the way these boxes work, though, and will ALWAYS come back for more from Takeout Kid.
