How do Takeout Kits work?
Takeout Kits include all the ingredients you need to make delicious meals in the right proportions. We design the recipes, shop for specialty ingredients, and deliver Takeout Kits right to your door. All you have to do is cook and enjoy! We’ve designed our products to teach you how to cook international dishes and reduce unnecessary food waste. By letting us shop for you, we can bring you tested ingredients in the amount you need for the dish.
Do you accommodate specific diets or allergies?
We accommodate a variety of dietary preferences - e.g. vegetarian, pescatarian, low GI, etc. All of our boxes are assembled in the same facility, so we don't recommend ordering Takeout Kit if you have a serious food allergy.
How many meals are in a kit?
We define a meal kit as one type of meal (for example, a Thai Crab Curry kit). Each meal kit feeds 4 adults (generous portions) depending on their preferred portion size. Our samplers include 3 different meal kits and each of those meal kits includes 4 servings. So a sampler would give you 12 servings total.
When do you deliver?
We deliver on business days via USPS or FedEx. For a la carte orders, we ship orders within 1 business day. West coast orders are delivered within 2-4 business days and East coast within 4-6 business days from the order date. Subscriptions bill on the 15th of each month and ship on the following 1st of the month. New subscriptions purchased between the 1-15th will ship on the following 1st of the month, unless requested earlier.
Where do you deliver?
Since our kits have a 2 month shelf life, we can deliver nationwide and to most U.S. territories, Hawaii and Alaska, including to APO addresses overseas. Please contact us to check your specific location.
Where do you source your ingredients?
We source our ingredients from all over the world. Many of our suppliers are importers who pass their products through the strict FDA import process. Takeout Kit studies nutrition labels, ingredients, and portion sizes to find the healthiest products available. We then taste test all ingredients in house before finalizing kits.
Is this a subscription service like Blue Apron?
We offer an around-the-world subscription for your convenience. However, you don't need to sign up for a subscription. Many of our customers sign up for subscriptions and also periodically "stock up" on their favorites.
Do I need to be home to accept my delivery?
All of our kits are shelf-stable (don't require refrigeration) so you do not need to worry about being home to accept a delivery.
How do I cancel, modify my subscription, or change my address?
To Cancel: Go to your account through the original subscription confirmation email and click on the "EDIT" button and then on "CANCEL". Subscription cancellations need to be made prior to the 15th of each month. Billing and Shipping: Your first purchase will be charged to your card immediately, while re-billing takes place on the 15th of every month. The shipping date is always on the 1st of each month (if it falls on a weekend, your box will ship the first business day after the 1st). At this time, we are unable to offer refunds for subscriptions plans once you have been charged.
Are your ingredients healthy?
Many of our ingredients are USDA certified organic and preservative-free. We use the best quality ingredients possible. However, since many of our ingredients are authentic and imported, USDA organic and preservative-free is not always possible. As we grow, we will continually search for higher quality suppliers or make ingredients in house.
